Gifted students with autism possess an outstanding gift or talent and are capable of high performance and also have autism spectrum disorder. Gifted students with autism and social communication disorders struggle with:
- communication
- social skills
- range of interests
- sensory integration
- behavior
It's crucial for these students to understand they have many strengths such as:
- advanced reading (not necessarily compression or inference)
- deep funds of information
- extraordinary ability to memorize lists and facts
- passion for learning
- a strong desire to share knowledge
- advanced vocabulary
